Anahi Jimenez-Jose was born in Portland, OR and raised in AL. She began drawing in middle school when she was given my first sketchbook. Since then, art has been my primary source of self-expression. I have used art to express my anger, frustration, and sadness. I have also used art to express love and gratitude. I love to draw because it is entertaining. Creativity was my most notable quality during middle/high school. I believe that art has impacted my studies. I have always enjoyed math, as much as I enjoy shapes and patterns.
I'd like to say that I am from a family of artists. My mother, older sister, and younger sisters draw well. They draw beautifully, but they do not draw as frequently as I do. I am grateful for my supportive sisters. They applaud my progress. My mother has supported me through purchasing art supplies. My mother is proud of my talents, but she prefers that I focus on my academics. It is a bit disappointing, yet I am still grateful. My extended family and friends have also been encouraging. I am grateful for all of them. My supporters are the reason that I continue to create art.
